paysafecard delights
the games community

It started on 24 and 25 February with the ESL One, the first Dota 2 Major tournament in Poland. One million dollars in prize money enticed 16 of the best Dota 2 teams in the world to the 11,000 capacity Spodek arena in Katowice. Just a few days later, a further highlight for the Polish games community followed: at the CS:Go Event Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM), the Swedish team Fnatic finally won the tournament after over seven hours of battle in the packed hall.

4,000+ gamers at the paysafecard stand

However, the enthusiasm for eSports of the Polish fans was not only evident in the final. Around 4,000 gamers at the two competition weekends at the end of February and beginning of March visited the paysafecard stand, to win PINs, take part in the signing session with the CS:GO team of G2 Esports or to collect thundersticks, sweets and advertising material from the paysafecard promotion girls. Thanks to sponsorship, the paysafecard logo appeared on all the online and offline communication channels. paysafecard hereby reinforced its position as the brand that is known and trusted by gamers worldwide.

Long-term strategy for all verticals

paysafecard was closely associated with the games scene from the start. The current commitment as Global Sponsor is, however, part of a long-term strategy from which even merchants from areas other than eSports will benefit: "The global games community is one of the main reasons why paysafecard was invented as a payment system," paysafecard CEO Udo Müller believes. "We are proud to support the ESL as one of the main sponsors and to contribute to the further development of this league for digital entertainment across countries, continents and cultures. The reputation of the brand among 180 million eSports enthusiasts across the entire world will thereby be enormously strengthened."

Very interesting target group for merchants

Cooperation with the ESL also gives paysafecard even better access to and familiarity with a very interesting target group. In particular the games-friendly millennials get to know paysafecard through the ESL and eSports as a secure and uncomplicated means of payment which many will also use in other verticals online - for example in the areas of social media, entertainment or online betting.

Innovative Global Activations

paysafecard will therefore, in addition to event sponsoring, also start several innovative initiatives for the fans: the new "paysafecard Hall of Fame", for example, celebrates well-known personalities each year for their achievements during their eSports career or for the eSports sector as a whole. "paysafecard Beat the Legends“ gives fans the chance to test their expertise against professional gamers or influencers. And the "paysafecard Ultimate Experience“ sends the most passionate eSports fans to one of the biggest ESL events. Gamers in particular will therefore find 2018 an exciting year with paysafecard.
