paysafecard goes live in UAE

Good news for merchants: paysafecard is now available in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The market entry is backed by a growing number of Points of Sale in Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain.

paysafecard is continuing to expand across the MENA region. After the successful market entry into Kuwait and Saudi Arabia at the end of 2015, paysafecard is now live in the United Arab Emirates. The Federation of seven emirates at the southeast end of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering Oman to the east and Saudi Arabia to the south, has the highest internet penetration in the MENA region, with more than 90% of its population  having access to the internet. Furthermore, there is a lack of  alternative payment methods for online purchases in UAE.

UAE’s more than nine million residents are young and techsavvy and, according to a survey released recently by the payment solutions provider Network International, cash is the preferred payment method for goods and services for UAE residents.

paysafecard is available in denominations of 50, 100, 250, 500, 750 AED at Points of Sale of wellknown brand Upay. Due to restrictions in the region, merchants in the gambling and adult industry cannot be accepted. But paysafecard is happy to assist games, entertainment, eRetail and  foreign exchange merchants to realize the full  potential of the market.

Merchants do not need to make any technical changes at their end to activate their account in UAE, as paysafecard will activate the account automatically with the following MID currencies: EUR, USD, GBP, and CHF.
