Game on, gamescom
With most gamers, paysafecard has been firmly established since the year 2000. No other payment method is so closely associated with games and esports and has a higher brand awareness in this sector. paysafecard is therefore not only at the gamescom every year, but also supports the growing games and esports industry continuously by expanding the partnerships with the Electronic Sports League (ESL) and the professional esports Team G2 Esports as well as by sponsoring the German CS:GO-Team Sprout.gg.
However, at gamescom, the focus is not just on the gamers themselves. The Business Area of the games trade fair already opens the day before the start of the trade fair for regular visitors. Far more than 30,000 trade visitors take advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas with industry colleagues about the latest trends and to network.
Innovations, specifically for gamers
The paysafecard booth in hall 2.2 (Business Area) was also well-attended: "Good monetisation strategies are particularly hugely important for games providers", says Walter Tauchner, Vice President Partner Management at paysafecard: "Payment innovations which match the respective target group exactly are a particularly important element of this. We had many exciting and very promising meetings about this on all the trade fair days." But the paysafecard booth was not only well-attended when it came to business. With the traditional networking party, partners, journalists and guests had the opportunity to end the tough trade fair day with drinks & food and relax while listening to DJ music.
Large stage for the fans
It was louder at the paysafecard events for the gamers in the Entertainment Area of the trade fair in hall 11.3. Thanks to the "Beat the Legends" format, initiated by paysafecard and the Electronic Sports League (ESL), eight lucky fans had the opportunity to compete on a large stage in a CS:GO Show Match against the influencers Mrtweeday and DonaSpock. But the numerous other visitors to the B2C booth also got their money's worth during the trade fair days. The highlight was the interactive gaming challenge "paysafecard PINado", in which two players had to grab as many foam balls as possible from a wind cyclone in an individual plexiglas tube. Each winner gained a PIN worth EUR 5.
Perfect Partner Marketing
There were also 2,500 VIP goodie bags and exclusive prizes from paysafecard partners, autograph sessions and meet & greets with well-known professional gamers. paysafecard Partner Marketing also set up exclusive promotions. In cooperation with the GamigoGroup, 1,000 scratchcards worth EUR 10 each were distributed at the venue. Square Enix gave away 700 vouchers worth EUR 5 each for "Final Fantasy XIV" at its own booth and 5,000 flyers with a 10% off voucher code for the Fanatical Online Store were also distributed. Finally, the gaming fans also received the opportunity to participate in a live community vote for the esports personality to be honored live on the stage at the paysafecard Hall of Fame during the ESL One Hamburg in October 2019.
