Exploring new ground

New design, new partners and more marketing activities: paysafecard extends its classic Voucher Shop. Now consumers have many new options for using their “my paysafecard” account. And merchants can test paysafecard’s potential for their transaction volumes.

Until recently, paysafecard Voucher Shop was restricted to the offers of several large merchants. With their paysafecard, users were able to buy digital vouchers for the offers of Amazon or Swarovski, for example. This selection for "my paysafecard" account holders has now become significantly larger.

EXPANDED OFFERS
Since November, digital vouchers for the Microsoft Xbox Store, the Sony Playstation Store and the Nintendo eShop have also been available. Music enthusiasts can also buy digital vouchers for a Spotify Premium subscription in the Voucher Shop. The majority of the new offers are now also available in more countries. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain and Belgium are included in a first wave. Additional products and countries could follow soon, according to Stefan Stöckl, Strategic Sales & Business Development, Partner Management, paysafecard: "We intend to help our content partners in maximising their reach and accessing new user groups. Ultimately, we are specialists in digital sales and knew that we needed to expand the offers in our Voucher Shop in order to really be interesting for our target group." For the merchants, the best thing about the project is that it means no extra effort for them. With Pin-On-demand, the digital codes are requested from our ­distribution partners in real time via a central interface and delivered to the user immediately.

FOCUS ON CHRISTMAS BUSINESS
This will become possible through the cooperation with the gift card specialist, Sweepay. The Swiss company provides technical solutions for digital gift cards, among others, for the Swiss Federal Railways. And it ensures contacts with potential partners, such as iTunes, Netflix, Deezer or Zalando. "There is a standardised procedure for how we bring the merchants together with the operators of gift card or voucher shops," says Gabriele Lafranchi of Sweepay AG:"This is usually a three-stage process with the presentation and develop­ment of a business plan. In the giftcard business, it can take quite a long time for a cooperation to be formed. But with paysafecard, our partners see the potential and have prioritised the project. We can already go live with four large partners before Christmas. That was impor­tant, because gift cards are naturally best sellers during this season in particular."

ACCESS TO THE GAMING COMMUNITY
It is obvious to Lafranchi why paysafecard is specifically so interesting for the merchants: "For me, paysafecard is more than a normal company, because it offers access to an entire community. Particularly in the games sector, there is hardly another brand among the payment service providers who is associated so strongly with gaming and eSports. And the team at paysafecard has also built up communication channels in order to explicitly address this target group. One example of this is Facebook, says the gift card expert, where 1.5 million users follow paysafecard. For companies like Nintendo, the Voucher Shop is also a good opportunity for testing the sales potential of paysafecard before the payment option goes live in their shops," says Stefan Stöckl: "Our Voucher Shop is supplying initial concrete figures to companies like Nintendo. This way, they can better assess what potential the paysafecard community has for them. And without major effort. They even make money from it." Because sales through the Voucher Shop are possible without any problem, discussions with additional major content partners have already reached an advanced stage. Two to four of them could already expand the shop's offers soon. After this, locally relevant producers could then also be possible cooperation partners. The technical infrastructure is in place, with which the portfolio can be constantly expanded without major effort. In any case, there is major potential for all partners involved!
