A date with 370,000 gamers

370,000 game fans were again drawn to the 10th gamescom from August 21 to 25 in Cologne. At the world's largest fair for computer and video games, paysafecard also demonstrated how important "cash on the internet" is for the gaming community. Thousands of visitors to the two paysafecard stands in the Entertainment Area generated a fantastic atmosphere. In the Business Area, meanwhile, we networked intensively and many ideas for new partner campaigns were conceived.

The paysafecard offer of speedy, secure and convenient payment strikes the nerve of the online games community exactly. For enthusiastic gamers in particular, the payment process during or before the game needs to be as seamlessly integrated as possible into the overall experience. The extent to which paysafecard is known as a brand in this sector was shown again this summer at the gamescom mega-event. The event has been growing for years as rapidly as the entire games sector. "It is unbelievable what is happening here", Claudia Schügerl, Head of B2B Marketing comments in the Cologne trade fair halls: "As paysafecard, we have the advantage that we were invovled in the games sector from the beginning, so that we can profit with our merchants from the growth in the entire sector. This growth is also shown in figures from gamescom. 370,000 visitors from over 100 countries attended, to learn about new products and celebrate their hobby. Most of these visitied the so-called "Entertainment Area". paysafecard constructed two out of a total of three stands here. Visitors here could play the exclusive game at the stands, paysafecard Battlegrounds, in "the last one standing“ format. There were also several Happy Hours and many prizes from the paysafecard partners.

Young target group for the business sectors of tomorrow

The "Beat the Legends" format was even more exciting for the target group. As a global sponsor of the ESL, paysafecard made it possible for eSports fans to demonstrate their skill on the big stage of the ESL arena against their idols. This time, pre-registered visitors played against the "Schweineaim" team and the two German CS:GO influencers Triluxe and Felixsan. "I'm certain that promotions like these as part of our sponsorship will further increase the awareness of our brands in the eSports sector. In this way we reach a young target group whom we can convince at an early stage of the advantages of paysafecard and who will very probably later also use our payment options in other areas," paysafecard CEO Udo Müller says.

Networking & Trends in the Business Area

gamescom is however not only interesting for gamers. In the "Business Area" this year, 31,200 sector experts met at over 1,000 stands. The paysafecard group was represented there with paysafecard, Neteller and Skrill. At the 70 m² stand, new contacts were made and there were lively exchanges about the latest trends in online payments in the games industry. In the evening of the second day, the very well-established annual stand party then gave the opportunity to network completely informally. Groovy music, delicious snacks and a couple of great drinks ensured exactly the right atmosphere to exchange ideas in a relaxed way away from the trade fair stress. And in this way, a few new ideas for partner cooperation were conceived.
